The Fall
Of Icarus
A monumental mosaic commission created for Longleat.
40 Square meters
Bisazza Glass Tiles
Real Gold Leaf
The Story
The brief was to create a 40 square meter
mosaic for Lord Bath at Longleat, depicting
Icarus falling from the sky. Taking three months
to complete, the work was designed for immersion within a pond, allowing water to move across its
surface. Rich blues and greens are contrasted with
the golden tones of Icarus's hair, creating a dynamic and atmospheric composition.

The Icarus Commission
Designed for Longleat. Made by hand.

Installed at Longleat
The finished mosaic occupies a purpose built pond, where water softens the colors and brings movement to the surface.

Three months in the making
Working section by section, the design was translated into thousands of individually selected glass tesserae.
