BESPOKE MOSAIC LOG0
DIDSBURY, MANCHESTER
A large-scale bespoke mosaic created for the The Assembly Bar,
formerly located on Lapwing Lane Didsbury.

THE DESIGN
The central letterform was created in iridescent
Murano glass allowing the surface to subtly shift
in colour as the light moves across it.
Surrounding the logo, pale unglazed ceramic tesserae
were laid in flowing concentric lines that follow and
respond to the curves of the letter, creating a sense
of movement that radiates across the entire panel.
The contrast between the matt ceramic background
and luminous glass centre gives the-finished piece
depth and a beautiful changing quality und the bar
lighting.

The combination of matt ceramic and reflective
glass was chosen to create both textural and tonal
contrast while retaining the restrained palette
of the interior.

An Architectural Mosaic
Installed behind the main bar, the
finished mosaic became an integral part of the restaurant interior rather than simply a decorative artwork.
Its scale, graphic simplicity and subtle iridescence allowed it to work as both branding and architectural art - recognizable from across the room while revealing much finer detail when viewed close up.

BESPOKE MOSAIC COMMISSIONS
