PRIVATE RESIDENCE
FOWEY, CORNWALL
 

A bespoke mosaic floor for a private sauna, in a coastal home overlooking the beautiful  fowey estuary. 

Inspired by the surrounding landscape and the client's love of nature, Cornwall and beekeeping, the design brings together native flora and fauna in a flowing figure of eight composition.

Handcrafted using Italian glass, gold leaf tiles and Winckelmans unglazed tiles, the mosaic is designed to be appreciated from every angle - from the entrance, the sauna seating on the left, and the cushioned seat on the right.

The Story

The commission  began with sketches exploring a loose composition inspired by the Cornish Coast and its wildlife. 

​

The final design celebrates diversity and movement with each element considered to create a harmonious whole.
