The client commissioned a bespoke mosaic floor for their deli entrance in Newlyn, inspired by the historic Unswept Floor motif. The brief was to reinterpret this classical idea while reflecting the deli’s own produce and local identity.The design presents a contemporary Cornish still life, with scattered elements including seafood, bread, citrus, herbs, and other deli items, echoing the remnants of a shared meal. The central “Deli” text anchors the piece, while a decorative border frames the composition.The finished mosaic connects past and present, combining classical influence with local character to create a distinctive and welcoming entrance feature.
